Creating a pooch pop-up for Northern

The brief

How do you create a pop-up photographic studio for dogs when there is no mains power available and the site bears the full force of gales from the North Sea?

We were asked by our client Northern to deliver an activation that would highlight the great reasons to get out and about in the North during the Autumn and create positive sentiment. We came up with the idea of creating a dog photobooth at the beach to celebrate 1st Dogtober when dogs can run free for the next six months.

But how could we make it happen?

The delivery

We invited a group of hardworking Pets As Therapy dogs and their volunteer owners to join us for a great day out in Blackpool. We welcomed the dogs on board a Northern train at Preston and made sure they got best-in-show treatment.

We used a horsebox lorry to create the perfect weather-proof compact studio, complete with a dog-friendly ramp and its own generator. And we created a cosy marquee beneath the Blackpool Tower where dogs and their humans could enjoy hot drinks and plenty of treats all day.

The results

More than 30 visitors to Blackpool were treated to a free individual portrait shoot of their canine pal

Winds of more than 30mph didn’t cause us any issues

We gave out more than 200 hot drinks and goody bags creating positive awareness for Northern in a key location
